20 years of Retail Leadership in Sales and Human Resources developing high performance teams for major retailers ( HBC/Future Shop/Best Buy and Henrys Camera
In my spare time, I love spending time with family, either going out to dinner, a movie, a hike or just hanging out. This would include my immediate family of my husband and 2 boys as well as my parents and my 2 brothers and their families. I also have quite a large extended family as well so there are always lots of family functions on the go.
I started out in Retail at the The Bay in my first year of University. I worked as a part time sales associate in the Linen Dept. I worked in pretty much every department there was at The Bay. After I finished my degree, the store manager approached me about joining the Management Trainee program. Not quite knowing what I wanted to do, I decided to proceed and with that, I worked in many stores with many great leaders. Once I graduated that program, there was a prestigious CHRM program through UBC that they only offered to 10 people across the company. I applied for this and got into the first and only CHRM program at The Bay through UBC. Once I completed this program, I became a HR manager at several stores. Although HR is my passion, I also love sales. After being at The Bay for 15 years, I moved onto Michel Germain Parfums as a National Account Manager for North America, then I moved back to HR as a District Human Resources Manager for Future Shop and then Best Buy. Feeling the sales itch once again, I then moved onto Henrys Camera and became the Eastern Regional Sales Manager. But alas, HR is my passion and always has been, and here I am! I have learned that People are my passion and I am most happy when I am positively impacting people and changing their lives for the better. Change is good and I welcome any challenge that comes my way as it makes me a stronger leader and person.
My strengths are my People Skills which include listening, developing, engaging and motivating. I learned at a very young age that I have a strong ability to empathize with people and this coupled with an innate drive for positivity provides a great support pillar for my team and people in my life.
I love supporting people. I love being the person that has the ability to fix something or support whether that be in sales, execution or work environment. Impacting culture and positively impacting a person’s experience or life is what drives me.
